JSON Editor

Paste, upload, or drop a JSON file into a real code editor — line numbers, code folding, bracket matching, and inline error checking, not a plain textarea.

A JSON editor that behaves like an IDE

Editing JSON in a plain <textarea>means no indentation help, no way to tell which closing brace belongs to which object, and no warning until something breaks downstream. This editor is built onCodeMirror, the same engine behind editors like Obsidian and Overleaf: line numbers down the side, a fold gutter to collapse a large object or array out of the way, automatic bracket matching, and a lint gutter that underlines invalid syntax the moment you type it — with the exact line and column shown in the status bar below.

Full undo/redo history is preserved as you edit, format, or minify, so you can always step back. A view switcher in the editor's title bar swaps between the CodeMirror view, a plain text view, a synced tree view, and a form view of the same document — all backed by the same state, so nothing is lost switching between them. Copy, download, share, and print actions live right in the editor's own title bar.

Once you're done editing, format or minify from the Actions panel, or switch the preview panel to a live XML,YAML, orCSV conversion — no separate tool, and nothing you type ever leaves your browser.

Is this a real code editor, or just a textarea?

A real code editor, built on CodeMirror: line numbers, a fold gutter for collapsing objects and arrays, bracket matching, syntax highlighting, and a lint gutter that underlines syntax errors inline as you type — not a plain <textarea> pretending to be one.

Can I undo and redo changes?

Yes, with full editor history — Ctrl/Cmd+Z and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z work as expected, and the same Undo/Redo buttons are in the toolbar above the editor.

Can I upload or drag a .json file straight into the editor?

Yes — drop a file anywhere on the page, use the upload button, or paste directly. Files are read and parsed entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded to a server.

Are there other ways to view the same document while editing?

Yes. The editor's view switcher toggles between Code (CodeMirror), Text (a plain textarea), Tree, and Form views of the same underlying document — useful for quick edits without CodeMirror's syntax overhead, or for editing via a form when you don't want to touch raw JSON.
